COSMOCITY - Two security guards were shot in a cash-in-transit incident in Cosmo City,It’s understood a group of robbers opened fire on the security vehicle. Police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said a group of men travelling in three vehicles attacked a cash-in-transit van at Cosmo City Junction after 8:00 on Saturday morning.Dlamini said the men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and were still at large.
“One of the guards was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot and another received advanced life support treatment for a gunshot wound to his chest.
“Both were transported to hospital for further medical management‚” he said.
“SAPS‚ Johannesburg Metro Police and security services attended the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known‚” Vermaak added.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak says both guards were transported to a hospital for further medical treatment.
“Paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the scene and found the two security guards had sustained gunshot wounds, one to his foot and the other to his chest. One of the guards was treated on the scene.”
No arrests have been made.
