There was outrage last week as Metrobus strike continued while negotiations took place


JOBURG –  We are anticipating restoration this week.The strike continued last week as negotiations were underway with Demawusa and services were at a standstill for the entire week.

Metrobus was affected by the current bus strike.
The City of Johannesburg’s Metrobus was affected by the current bus strike by employees affiliated with the Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Demawusa) on 6 June.

The transport entity warned commuters to be vigilant when using its services, revealing photos of busses damaged, likely because of the strike.

The entity said management was busy negotiating a settlement with the Demawusa.

Meetings continued on the morning of 6 June and further.

“Unfortunately our commuters will continue to experience service disruptions in various areas across the city,” it said.

Most of Metrobus’ employees are, not, however, affiliated with Demawusa, and many busses are still operational.
