Thulisile Madihlaba popularly known as Chomee performs at the Mall
The first summer festival in Cosmo Mall is planned to be an annual event following a positive response from the residents in Cosmo City.
Musicians and local artists entertained residents at the shopping centre’s parking lot on 29 October. Artists such as Thebe, Chomee, kwaito group Alaska, Nokwazi, DJ Lady T and Joe Moth graced the festival.
Residents were given the opportunity to meet and watch their favourite artists while performing. It was a hive of activities with children’s entertainment and exhibition stands.
“The mall worked with the youth and local artists within Cosmo City to give them a platform to showcase their talent,” said Ayanda Mauka, communications and marketing officer of the centre.
She said residents braved the heat to watch the performances and browse the exhibition stands. “People were excited to see their kwaito legends, and the youth were motivated by Alaska who warned them against drug and alcohol use and spoke to them about healthy living and working hard for their dreams,” she said.
One of the artists and a Cosmo City resident, Chomee, told young people about the importance of following their dreams. “Residents embraced the mall’s decision of organising the concert and providing entertainment to residents for free,” concluded Mauka.
